A new policy for the attorneys is now a go they are going to end prosecutions and continue to go after the pot traffickers. They will not prosecute patients with serious illnesses or their care givers who are with the state laws on medical marijuana. Attorney General Eric Holder said “We will not tolerate drug traffickers who hide behind claims of compliance with state law to mask activities that are clearly illegal”.
The Justice Department guidance said “It would not be a smart use of federal resources to go after the individuals with cancer or other illnesses who used marijuana as a recommendation from a doctor”. They will still use the illegal tracking in drugs. The policy is a big shift for the Bush administration, but it is being backed up by the Supreme Court. A memo from Ogden warns the federal authorities will still hunt signs of illegal trafficking in drugs and marijuana
