Joe Wilson interrupted the president during a speech for a joint session of Congress. He yelled out “YOU LIE” and his colleague Nancy Pelosi was about to get up and have to restrain him. Majority Whip Jim Clyburn warned them that he might make Joe go back and apologize to the well of the House. This was probably very embarrassing for the GOP.
During debates they now rely on yelling and screaming (I don’t think that strategy will last long). This was not the worst incedent that happened before, the worst incedent was when the South Carolina Rep. Preston Brooks attacked the Massachusetts Sen. and actually started to beat him with his cane (Like in those funny T.V. shows except no one actually gets all bloody and then is unconscious). Preston Brooks did this because he was unhappy with the Massachusetts Sen. speech about slavery. When a peace activist approached Massachusetts Republican Henry Cabot Lodge in the Senate hallway the Henry Cabot called him a coward for making America go to World War 1 and punched him in the face.
