Great White sharks usually swim a couple of miles from the coast line, but in California there have been so many Great Whites near the shore some have actually been inside the San Fransisco Bay. The good part about this is that they really aren’t near the shore for humans this gives scientists to study the Great Whites up close. Ten Scientists have tagged one hundred seventy-nine Great Whites to track their movements and this is actually normal for Great Whites to do this. Great Whites do this several times a month for prey like elephant seals and sea lions. We are not going to scare them off because if we have not noticed them before then they don’t want any trouble.
The Scientists have lured the sharks in with a decoy they put two kinds of tracking tags on them satellite tags and one for sound. The sound one is used for picking up sound waves when the shark swims near the receiver. The salom receivers are also set off from the shark and the scientists are trying to figure out why.
