This is such a big ring around Saturn one billion Earths could fit in it. This ring was never discovered before because it doesn’t reflect light. This ring is made out of ice and dust parts. I think this ring is a protection for Saturn so then little particles that are bad to the planet will not harm it.
This new telescope called the Spitzer NASA has now figured out there is an eight ring. NASA launched it in 2003 and now we have found something interesting and now they have sent it to the Sun. This telescope lets scientists see space differently because other telescopes magnify the object. This telescope allows the scientists to look at the object by what the objects temperature is. This ring will unfold lots of mysteries about Saturn such as one of Saturn’s moons there is something weird about Lapetus this moon has a colorful side that side faces Saturn when the other side is very dark. The moon circles Saturn in the opposite direction from the giant ring. The NASA Scientists think the material from the giant ring collides with Lapetus and gathers on one side of the moon making it look dark.
